How it started

How Dog-lores Jane's Got Started

Dog-lores Jane's started because we wanted healthier treats for Dolores Jane—and we wanted to know exactly what was in the food she was eating.

My sweet little Sugar Britches is the pickiest dog on the planet. We tried more foods and treats than I can count, but long ingredient lists made it hard to feel confident about what we were giving her. We wanted something simple, wholesome, and easy to understand.

One of the few treats she truly loved was freeze-dried lamb hearts. One ingredient. Real food. Nothing hidden.

One day I looked at my husband Jeff and said, "I can make these myself."

So I started researching freeze-drying and reached out to a local farm about buying organs directly. When I explained what I wanted to do, they said they'd be interested in selling the treats if I made them.

A few days later, another local business owner said the same thing.

Well...I've never been known to pass up a good side hustle.

What started as a way to give Dolores Jane healthier treats—and give us peace of mind about every ingredient—quickly turned into Dog-lores Jane's Freeze-Dried Treats.

Today we make simple, single-ingredient treats with locally sourced ingredients, no fillers, no preservatives, and no junk—just real food dogs love.

Every batch is taste-tested by our Chief Executive Taste Tester, Dolores Jane herself.

If Sugar Britches doesn't approve, it doesn't make the cut.
